The NASCAR Cup Series heads to the high banks of Talladega for this years running of the Alabama 500. What can we expect on Sunday?

The NASCAR Cup Series will travel to Talladega for this week’s running of the Alabama 500. This is race number two in the Round of 12 and could be a race that shakes up the playoff standings.

First and foremost, this weekend’s Alabama 500 at Talladega Superspeedway will be the last superspeedway race of 2017. Therefore, if you’re a fan of pack racing, you’ll want to tune in this weekend. The icing on the asphalt cake is that it’s not just any race, but a playoff race as well.  Talladega will be home for the second of three races in the Round of 12.

All things considered, Talladega is considered by many to be a “wild card” for the second round where anything and everything could and might happen. Last week, it was mentioned how important it was for playoff teams to have a good finish at Charlotte. In Martin Truex Jr.’s case, it was a good weekend. For the #18 team, it was most certainly not. This means Kyle Busch will need strong finishes at Talladega and Kansas in order to make the next round.

At any rate, its time for the Cup Series to head south to heat up the playoff race. What five things could happen? Click the link below to find out!
