2009 Formula One champion Jenson Button ruled out a potential in IndyCar, as he claimed that the sport is too scary for him.
Jenson Button, 37, has officially ruled out a possible future in IndyCar. Button, the 2009 Formula One champion, was the latest Formula One driver who has been surrounded by rumors of a potential switch to IndyCar.
Rumors also swirled around McLaren’s Fernando Alonso and former Renault driver Jolyon Palmer as far as IndyCar rumors go; in fact, some rumors about those drivers driving in the Indianapolis 500 or even coming to the sport full-time as early as next year are still alive and well.
But for Button? He’ll have you know that he wants none of it and is perfectly content to stay away from America’s top open-wheel racing series. Here is what he had to say about why he won’t pursue a career in IndyCar.

"“No interest really. I mean IndyCar, there’s some great drivers racing there but it scares the s— out of me. I’m amazed that they still race. Very brave guys but I wouldn’t touch that. I don’t feel that’s necessary at this point of my career.”‘"
At 37 years of age, the fact that Button does not want to drive in IndyCar makes sense, especially given the fact that he has absolutely no experience behind the wheel of that type of car.
Button’s comments also illustrate just how hard and risky it is to be an IndyCar driver, as he is a former Formula One world champion who is essentially too scared to drive in the series. His comments as a whole are essentially a polar opposite to the comments of his former Formula One teammate Lewis Hamilton, who took a shot at the Indianapolis 500 field this past year despite the fact that he has never driven in the sport before.
