Ed Jones is set to leave Dale Coyne Racing and join Chip Ganassi Racing in the 2018 IndyCar season. Who are some possible replacement candidates for him?

Ed Jones is set to join Chip Ganassi Racing in the 2018 IndyCar season to replace Tony Kanaan as the driver of the #10 Honda after spending this past season, his rookie season, driving the #19 Honda for Dale Coyne Racing.

The 2016 Indy Lights champion, 2017 IndyCar Rookie of the Year and top rookie finisher in the 2017 Indianapolis 500 finished his rookie season in 14th in the drivers standings with five top 10 finishes, including a season-high and career-high 3rd place finish in the Indy 500.

Jones was expected to re-sign with Dale Coyne Racing for the 2018 season, but we now know that that will not happen. However, because his move was so unexpected, Dale Coyne Racing team owner Dale Coyne stated to RACER that he doesn’t know who Jones’ replacement will be.

"“We don’t know who our new driver is going to be because we thought [Ed] was returning here, and I think most people did, so the phone has been pretty quiet. We left Sonoma with a handshake deal and just needed to finish out the contract, so this caught me by surprise.”"

Here are five possible drivers who could replace Ed Jones in the #19 Dale Coyne Racing Honda in the 2018 IndyCar season and team up with four-time Champ Car champion Sebastian Bourdais.
