The German DTM series has unveiled their 2018 schedule, with the tin top touring car championship racing all across Europe in the new year.

Touring car championships around the world are great places for manufacturers to test their road cars in racing conditions. The German DTM series is one of these elite proving grounds, racing primarily in Germany while also providing opportunities elsewhere in Europe.

On Monday, the series unveiled their 2018 schedule of races, with an equal balance of racing both in and out of Germany.

The new ten-race calendar for DTM in 2018 will include five races in their home nation of Germany and five elsewhere across Europe. Included in those European events are two new races at Brands Hatch, England and Misano, Italy. One race outside of Germany from 2017 in Moscow, Russia will be dropped from the calendar.

Once again in the new year, the series will start and finish the year at Hockenheim. The championship will return to the Lausitzring, which is under new management, for the second race of the season in mid May. June then rolls in with races in Budapest, Hungary and at the Norisring. At the halfway point of the schedule, DTM rolls into Zandvoort in mid July.

August will see the two new races added to the calendar at Brands Hatch and Misano. September then sees races at two classic racetracks – the Nurburgring in Germany and the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The championship wraps up in the middle of October back where the season began at the Hockenheimring.

Gerhard Berger, Chairman of DTM’s promoter ITR, had this to say about the 2018 schedulem according to Motorsport.com:

"Five events in Germany, five abroad – DTM is becoming somewhat more international without neglecting its German roots. With England and Italy two important markets of the premium-car manufacturers Audi, BMW and Mercedes make their comeback on the DTM calendar.I’m delighted that DTM keeps on racing at the Lausitzring – even after the circuit was sold. With the new owner DEKRA, our long-term partners, we could make sure that the Eastern-German DTM enthusiasts also will be provided spectacular touring car racing."
