NASCAR Cup Series driver Darrell Wallace Jr. has made clear what he thinks of fellow driver Kyle Busch’s comments about the sport’s marketing campaigns.

2015 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch, 32, recently made comments about how he feels the fact that NASCAR uses their young and up-and-coming drivers to do most of their marketing campaigns is unfair to the veterans of the sport.

Busch, who drives the #18 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing, is a veteran himself, as he is set to enter his 14th season of full-time Cup Series competition in a few weeks when the 2018 season gets underway with the 60th annual Daytona 500.

However, not all veterans agree with Busch’s position. Stewart-Haas Racing teammates Clint Bowyer, 38, and Kevin Harvick, 42, both disagreed with Busch’s position on the matter and voiced their support for the young drivers who compete in the sport. Bowyer is set to enter his 13th season of full-time competition in the Cup Series this year, and Harvick is set to enter his 18th.

More from Kyle Busch

Ryan Blaney, 24, is a young driver in the sport himself, and he predictably fired back at Busch’s remarks. Blaney is set to enter his third season as a full-time driver in the Cup Series this year and his first driving for Team Penske after spending two seasons driving for Wood Brothers Racing.

Another 24-year-old Cup Series driver, Darrell Wallace Jr., also fired back at Busch’s remarks. Wallace Jr. is set to drive full-time in the Cup Series this season for the first time as a rookie for Richard Petty Motorsports. Last season, he substituted for Aric Almirola at Richard Petty Motorsports for four races when Almirola was sidelined due to a back injury he suffered in a nasty wreck at Kansas.

Here is what Wallace Jr. had to say in response to Busch’s remarks, according to NESN.

"“I love Kyle to death, but, damn dude, c’mon. I don’t know how old he is. What is he? 32? Damn, he’s that old? Getting up there, bud. He was in the same spot we were. They had the ‘Gillette Young Guns’ back then. He’s still got the baby face now. So, I’m not really sure what he’s trying to say. And I wouldn’t really call it dirty work. Some of it is fun. We like doing that. I don’t have the M&Ms sponsor to carry me full-time.”"

Are Darrell Wallace Jr.’s comments in response to Kyle Busch’s remarks fair? With so many other drivers voicing their disagreement with Busch, will Busch fire back in the near future? There are still more than three weeks to go until the season begins with the Daytona 500 on Sunday, February 18th, so we may have to wait and see.
