By Asher Fair
The start of the 2018 Formula One season is right around the corner. How do the 20 drivers stack up against each other as they prepare for it?
The 21-race 2018 Formula One season is right around the corner, as the 2018 Australian Grand Prix, which is set to kick off the season, is quickly approaching. Which drivers have earned the right to open up the season toward the top of the power rankings?
Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport driver Lewis Hamilton led the field in victories last season en route to winning his fourth career championship and third in the last four seasons, as he won nine races. The next closest win total to Hamilton’s was five, which was held by Sebastian Vettel, who is also a four-time champion of the sport. Vettel drives for Scuderia Ferrari.
Both drivers are set to take aim at winning their fifth career Formula One championship this season to tie Juan Manuel Fangio for second on the all-time titles list behind only seven-time champion Michael Schumacher.
Valtteri Bottas, Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo also won at least one race throughout the 2017 season. Bottas, who is Hamilton’s teammate, won three races, while Verstappen won two and his Red Bull Racing teammate Ricciardo won one.
Without further ado, here are the preseason driver power rankings for the 2018 Formula One season.
