Landon Cassill is set to drive the #00 Chevrolet in the next two NASCAR Cup Series races at Martinsville and Texas for StarCom Racing.

Landon Cassill, 28, was left without a full-time ride in the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season for the first time since the 2010 season this year following a two-year stint with Front Row Motorsports in the 2016 and the 2017 season in addition to several other one-year stints with other teams from the 2011 season to the 2015 season.

Jeffrey Earnhardt, 28, was confirmed as the full-time driver of the #00 Chevrolet for StarCom Racing before the start of the 2018 season, as Circle Sport ended their partnership with The Motorsports Group, so Earnhardt no longer had his ride in the #33 Chevrolet for Circle Sport – The Motorsports Group like he did in the 2017 season.

However, following the 2018 Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, Earnhardt and StarCom Racing parted ways, leaving the seat of the team’s #00 Chevrolet open in future races.

More from NASCAR

Cassill was confirmed as Earnhardt’s replacement in the #00 Chevrolet for StarCom Racing for the next two Cup Series races. He is set to drive for the team in the STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway in Ridgeway, Virginia this Sunday, and he is set to drive for the team in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas on the Sunday one week after Easter.

In 259 career Cup Series starts, Cassill has just one top 10 finish. However, that lone top 10 finish was also an impressive top 5 finish, as he finished in 4th place in the October Talladega race in the 2014 season driving for Hillman Racing.

Here is what Cassill had to say about the opportunity to drive for StarCom Racing in the next two Cup Series races.

This move means that Earnhardt will no longer be included in the weekly NASCAR Cup Series Driver Power Rankings as a result of the fact that he is no longer a full-time Cup Series driver. However, because Cassill is also not a full-time Cup Series driver, he will not replace Earnhardt in those rankings.

How will Landon Cassill perform at Martinsville and Texas? Will he do well enough to warrant StarCom Racing hanging on to him for more races throughout the 2018 season or perhaps even well enough to warrant another team taking a chance on him in the 2019 season in the form of offering him a full-time ride?
