After three runner-up finishes to begin his ARCA career in 2017, Zane Smith finally broke through for a win with MDM Motorsports in the Music City.

After a near two-month break, the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards returned to action on Saturday night at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway for the Music City 200.

The first short track event of the 2018 campaign saw a dominant performance by the drivers of MDM Motorsports, with young Zane Smith taking his first career victory in the #41 Toyota.

MDM Motorsports swept the top three finishing positions on Saturday night after Venturini Motorsports bested the Toyota team for the pole position earlier in the day.

At the end of the race, it was a battle of teammates for the win as Sheldon Creed would lose out to Smith with 20 laps to go. Creed would continue on to finish second, while Harrison Burton made it an all MDM top three.

Michael Self and Chandler Smith would round out the top five in the Music City 200. Just 11 cars were listed as finishing on the lead lap, with Tyler Dippel, Chase Purdy, Christian Eckes, Brandon Grosso, Bret Holmes, and Natalie Decker completing the lead lap cars.

Smith had this to say following his first career ARCA Racing Series victory in Nashville, according to ARCA Racing.

"I knew it was going to come down to me and Sheldon…I think you’re going to see that battle a lot this year. I can tell you coming to the white flag my legs were shaking. I forgot how to get to victory lane; it’s been so long. That’s all props to MDM Motorsports. Mardy (Lindley/crew chief) got this thing golden tonight. It was on rails all night. Pit road…they killed it. We never lost a spot."
