For the first time as a full-time NASCAR Xfinity Series driver, Christopher Bell was victories in the 2018 ToyotaCare 250.

Christopher Bell drove his #20 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing to victory lane for the first time as a full-time driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series after he won the ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Virginia on Friday night.

Bell led 120 of the race’s 250 laps around the four-turn, 0.75-mile D-shaped oval en route to his first win of the 2018 Xfinity Series and the second win of his Xfinity Series career, and he did so despite the fact that he did not win either of the race’s first two stages.

Bell’s victory is just the second victory of the season through eight races for Xfinity Series regulars in the Xfinity Series. The last time an Xfinity Series regular won an Xfinity Series race was when JR Motorsports’ Tyler Reddick won at Daytona to open up the season in his #9 Chevrolet.

More from Xfinity Series

Daniel Hemric won the race’s first stage in his #21 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing, but he ended up finishing way back in 29th place four laps off the lead. Elliott Sadler won the race’s second stage in his #1 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports before going on to finish the race in 3rd.

The race featured nine lead changes among six different drivers. Aside of Bell, who led more laps than any other driver did throughout the race, five other drivers led at least one lap of the race. Those drivers were Noah Gragson, Sadler, polesitter Cole Custer, John Hunter Nemecheck and Hemric.

The race featured five caution flag periods for 39 laps, with two of those caution flag periods occurring at the end of the race’s first two stages. The first incident-related caution flag of the race came out on lap 19 when David Starr stopped on the track. The second incident-related caution flag of the race came out on lap 63 when Josh Bilicki had an accident in turn two.

The third and final caution flag of the race came out on lap 165 when Justin Allgaier, Spencer Gallagher, Jeb Burton, Chase Briscoe and Michael Annett were involved in an accident on the front straightaway.
