As we near the halfway point on the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season, find out which five drivers are on the hot seat for 2019!
Howdy, folks! Hope you enjoyed the Pocono race weekend and are looking forward to the events at Michigan in the coming days! This week, I want to start with something a little different. Instead of taking a week by week look into the NASCAR Cup Series garage, let’s talk big picture!
With the season nearing the halfway point, silly season will soon be upon us. For those that don’t follow the sport in depth, “silly season” refers to free agency in NASCAR. Silly season includes driver moves, team changes, sponsorship deals and everything in between.
Now that we have cleared the murky water, let’s get to the purpose of this article. In the article, I will discuss five drivers who are on the hot seat in the Cup Series garage. These are drivers who need to show a solid level of performance to remain at the Cup Series level with a competitive Cup Series team.
On a side note, not all drivers are here due to their performance. Some are here due to their team and sponsor situations. One thing to keep in mind while reading this article is that sponsors run the sport in its current form. Drivers can be on the hot seat due to lack of sponsorship.
Lastly, just because a driver lands on this list doesn’t indicate that they can’t turn things around. In the following list, I’ll lay out what each of these five drivers need to do to get out of silly season drama. Enough talking; let’s get silly.
