Scott Dixon topped the speed chart in the second and final practice session for the ninth race of the 2018 IndyCar season, the DXC Technology 600.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon topped the speed chart in the second of two practice sessions at Texas Motor Speedway for the DXC Technology 600, which is the ninth of 17 races on the 2018 IndyCar schedule.
Dixon, who qualified in seventh place for the race, topped the speed chart in this practice session in his #9 Honda by recording a lap at 220.524 miles per hour (23.5076 seconds) around the high banks of the four-turn, 1.44-mile Texas Motor Speedway oval in Fort Worth, Texas.
A.J. Foyt Enterprises’ Tony Kanaan, who qualified in sixth place for the race, was the fastest Chevrolet driver in the practice session. He finished in second in his #14 Chevrolet.
Kanaan was the only Chevrolet driver who finished the practice session in the top seven, as Honda drivers took third through seventh with five drivers representing four different teams in addition to first with a fifth different team.

One of the drivers who finished from third through seventh place was Schmidt Peterson Motorsports rookie Robert Wickens, who topped the speed chart in the first practice session and qualified in fourth for the race.
Race polesitter Josef Newgarden ended up as the second fastest Chevrolet driver in the practice session in eighth place overall in his #1 Team Penske Chevrolet.
Newgarden was the only Chevrolet driver aside of Kanaan who finished the practice session inside the top 10.
There are no more practice session for the race before the race itself gets underway tomorrow night at 8:45 p.m. ET.
