Justin Haley earned his first career NASCAR Truck Series victory in the 10th race of the 2018 season, the Eaton 200 at Gateway Motorsports Park.

For the first time in his NASCAR Truck Series career, Justin Haley took the checkered flag in front of the rest of the field. He did so in the 10th race of the 2018 Truck Series season, the Eaton 200, at the four-turn, 1.25-mile (2.01-kilometer) Gateway Motorsports Park oval in Madison, Illinois.

The 19-year-old Haley, who started the race in fourth place, won the 160-lap race at the track by leading only seven of its laps in his #24 GMS Racing Chevrolet. However, he led when the checkered flag flew to most likely clinch a spot in this season’s Truck Series playoffs.

The highest finishing Toyota driver of the race was Kyle Busch Motorsports’ Todd Gilliland, who finished in second place in his #4 Toyota. Haley’s winning margin over Gilliland was 0.753 seconds. The highest finishing Ford driver of the race was ThorSport Racing’s Myatt Snider, who finished in fourth in his #13 Ford.

The race featured a total of seven lead changes among seven drivers. Aside of Haley, a total of six drivers led at least one lap of the race. Those drivers were Gilliland, Noah Gragson, Brett Moffitt, race polesitter Grant Enfinger, John Hunter Nemechek and Christian Eckes.

Gragson led more laps than anybody else in the field throughout the race. He led a total of 63 laps en route to a 10th place finish after starting the race in third. He led on a late restart, but he did not get a great restart and fell quickly down through the field. He came into the pits during the ensuing caution flag period and managed to work his way back up into 10th by the time the checkered flag flew.

The race also featured a total of nine caution flag periods for 53 laps. Of the 32 drivers who started the race, nine failed to finish it. Of the 23 drivers who did manage to finish it, 17 finished it on the lead lap. Of the six drivers who finished the race but did not do so on the lead lap, one finished just one lap down while the other five finished multiple laps down.
