Joey Logano earned his second victory of the 2018 NASCAR Xfinity Series season by winning the Zippo 200 at The Glen at Watkins Glen International.

Team Penske’s Joey Logano took the checkered flag in the 20th race of the 33-race 2018 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, the Zippo 200 at The Glen, at Watkins Glen International. The victory is his second of the 2018 season. He has competed in four races in the season so far.

Logano won the 82-lap race around the eight-turn, 2.454-mile (3.949-kilometer) Watkins Glen International road course in Watkins Glen, New York in his #22 Ford after starting from the pole position.

The full-time driver for Team Penske in the Cup Series won the race by 3.362 seconds over second place finisher A.J. Allmendinger of GMS Racing, who was the highest finishing Chevrolet driver of the race in his #23 Chevrolet.

JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier rounded out the top three in third place in his #7 Chevrolet. The highest finishing Toyota driver of the race was Joe Gibbs Racing’s Ryan Preece. He finished in fourth in his #18 Toyota. Stewart-Haas Racing’s Aric Almirola rounded out the top five in fifth in his #98 Ford.

More from Xfinity Series

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell, who entered the race having won each of the last three Xfinity Series races, finished in ninth place in his #20 Toyota. Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kyle Larson, who had driven in just four Xfinity Series races so far this season coming into the race but had won each of the last three in which he had driven, finished in 27th in his #42 Chevrolet.

The race featured a total of 13 lead changes among seven drivers. Aside of Logano, who led more laps than anybody else in the field with 31 laps led, six drivers led at  least one lap of the race. Those drivers were Allmendinger, Preece, Brad Keselowski, Tyler Reddick, Jeremy Clements and Alex Labbe. Logano won stage one and Allmendinger won stage two.

The race also featured a total of seven caution flag periods for 20 laps. Two of those caution flag periods took place as a result of the endings of stages one and two like usual, and the other five took place as a result of on-track incidents. The race even featured a red flag period and several laps that were run in wet conditions.

The race came down to an epic battle between Xfinity Series and Cup Series teammate Logano and Keselowski. With three laps to go, Keselowski was right on the bumper of Logano’s car, but he spun out in turn one, effectively handing the race to Logano if a caution flag did not come out. While Logano went on to win the race, Keselowski was relegated back to 10th place.

A total of 40 drivers started the race, and of those 40 drivers, 30 finished the race. Of the 30 drivers who finished the race, 23 finished it on the lead lap.
