The driver lineup in the 2019 IndyCar season is set to look somewhat different than it did in 2018. Here are the way-too-early driver power rankings for 2019.

Of the 22 drivers who are set to compete in IndyCar on a full-time basis in the 2019 season, 17 competed in the series on a full-time basis last season. Of those 17 drivers, all 17 are set to drive for the teams for which they drove in the 2018 season.

Of the five drivers who did not compete in IndyCar last season but are set to compete full-time in 2019, none have competed in the series on a full-time basis before and only three have competed in the series before in any capacity.

With the driver lineup of the 2019 season being noticeably different from the driver lineup of the 2018 season, how will the championship battle play out?

Here are the way-too-early 2019 IndyCar Driver Power Rankings.

#22

#22. . No. 59. Carlin, Chevrolet. MAX CHILTON

Max Chilton struggled mightily in his first season driving for Carlin in what was the team’s first season competing in IndyCar, as he failed to finish a single race in the top 10 and ended up finishing in 19th place in the championship standings, which was last among the sport’s full-time drivers. Carlin certainly struggled as a whole in the 2018 season, but even Chilton’s teammate, Charlie Kimball, was still able to record six top 10 finishes.
