IndyCar: Jack Harvey to drive for Meyer Shank Racing in 10 races in 2019
By Asher Fair
Jack Harvey is set to drive for Meyer Shank Racing in 10 races throughout the 2019 IndyCar season after competing for the team in six races in the 2018 season.
Jack Harvey, who drove for Meyer Shank Racing on a part-time basis throughout the 2018 IndyCar season, is set to drive for the team on a part-time basis once again in the 2019 season.
However, after driving for the team in only six races throughout the 17-race 2018 season, the 25-year-old Briton is set to drive for the team in 10 races throughout the 17-race 2019 season, a possibility that had been rumored for quite some time. He is set to be sponsored by AutoNation and SiriusXM like he was last season.
Meyer Shank Racing formed a partnership with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports to field the #60 Honda for Harvey in these six races throughout the 2018 season, and they are set to continue their partnership with the newly branded Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports to field the #60 Honda for him in 10 races throughout the 2019 season as well.
Harvey is set to drive the #60 Honda in the Indianapolis 500 as well as in the road or street course races at St. Petersburg, Circuit of the Americas, Barber Motorsports Park, Long Beach, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Road America, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Portland International Speedway and WeatherTeach Raceway Laguna Seca this season.
Here is what Harvey had to say about the opportunity to drive for Meyer Shank Racing in 10 races throughout the 2019 IndyCar season, according to RACER.
"“We are extremely excited to be extending our program. That has always been the goal for 2019 and it is amazing to achieve that and continue to grow what we are doing. I have to thank Michael [Shank], he has put in an immense amount of work and of course thanks to Jim Meyer for his continued support. Without either of those guys, in their own way, I wouldn’t have received the opportunity.“We also wouldn’t be able to do any of this without our partners, AutoNation and SiriusXM. We are incredibly lucky to have two companies that believe in us and the vision of the team. Now it’s our turn to get out on track and do more races and hopefully get some better results. I believe in the team and in myself to do what we have to do. We are just thrilled to confirm this expanded schedule so we can deliver results for everyone.”"
Here is what Meyer Shank Racing team co-owner Michael Shank had to say about Harvey driving for the team in 10 races throughout the 2019 season, according to RACER.
"“I am really excited to see the way this program has grown over the past season. Starting off with only six races is not easy, but Jack did a great job and really hung in there. With 10 races, Jack will have much more seat time and it will help us all around. I’m also excited to have both AutoNation and SiriusXM back on board with us. They have been such great partners to work with and there is only more to be excited about next year.”"
Here is what Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports team co-owner Sam Schmidt had to say about the matter, according to RACER.
"“The partnership with Meyer Shank Racing has been so mutually beneficial, and I’m excited to see it continue and grow. Being able to share data, resources and personnel only helps both teams’ efforts as we all strive to win more races. I’m really looking forward to another great year with MSR, Mike [Shank] and Jim [Meyer] working alongside everyone at Arrow SPM.”"
