IndyCar: Carlin still pursuing second part-time driver for 2019
By Asher Fair
After confirming that Charlie Kimball is set to drive part-time for the team in the 2019 IndyCar season, Carlin are still pursuing another part-time driver.
Carlin recently confirmed that Max Chilton is set to return to the team for the 2019 IndyCar season, which is set to be his fourth season competing in IndyCar on a full-time basis and his second season driving the #59 Chevrolet for the second-year team.
The Florida-based team also confirmed that Charlie Kimball is set to return to the team for the 2019 season, which is set to be his ninth season competing in IndyCar and his second season driving the #23 Chevrolet for the team.
However, the 33-year-old Camarillo, California native is only set to drive for the team on a part-time basis in the 2019 season after driving full-time for the team in the 2018 season.

That said, Kimball’s schedule as far as the races in which he is set to compete throughout the 17-race season have not yet been confirmed.
In fact, the number of races in which Kimball is set to compete throughout the 2019 season has not been confirmed, either. With this in mind, it is not yet known for which of this season’s races Chilton is currently slated to be without a teammate.
What has been confirmed is that Novo Nordisk is only set to sponsor the #23 Chevrolet in the races during which the car is driven by Kimball, so another deal or other deals for another part-time driver or other part-time drivers will likely rely almost completely if not entirely on funding.
Will Carlin sign another part-time driver or part-time drivers to compete as Max Chilton’s teammate or teammates throughout the 2019 IndyCar season in the races in which Charlie Kimball does not compete? If so, which driver or drivers they sign? In how many races and in which races will Kimball and this other driver or these other drivers compete?
