By Asher Fair
Rookie Colton Herta topped the speed chart in the second of four test sessions of IndyCar Spring Training at Circuit of the Americas.
Harding Steinbrenner Racing rookie Colton Herta closed out the first of two days of IndyCar Spring Training at Circuit of the Americas by topping the speed chart in the day’s second test session at Circuit of the Americas, which is scheduled to host the second race of the 17-race 2019 IndyCar season, the IndyCar Classic, on Sunday, March 24.
Herta topped the speed chart in this test session by recording a top lap time of 106.6258 seconds (115.706 miles per hour) around the 20-turn, 3.427-mile (5.515-kilometer) Circuit of the Americas road course in Austin, Texas in his #88 Honda.
By topping the speed chart in this test session, the 18-year-old Valencia, California native, who is the youngest full-time driver in the series, swept both of the test sessions on the first day of IndyCar Spring Training.
Team Penske teammates Will Power and Helio Castroneves finished behind Herta in this test session in second and third place in their #12 Chevrolet and #3 Chevrolet, respectively. Of these two drivers, only Power is set to drive full-time this season.
