6. Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo

The Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo raced in the IMSA GT Championship from 1985 though 1990. It was commonly known as the GTP ZX-T, and it utilized its unique turbocharged engine to take the fight to the top teams in the series.

After having a slow first few years, battling mechanical failure and crashes that delayed its development, the Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo finally got its first win in 1987, and it started to hit its stride in the following seasons.

In 1988, the Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo won an incredible eight consecutive races. Although the Nissan team missed out on the constructor championship by one point, they were able to capture the driver championship that season.

In 1989, the Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo won 10 of the 13 races, and it easily won the constructor and driver championships. 1990 was the car’s final year, and it won one race that year before Eagle-Toyota became the new powerhouse team.
