NASCAR: Kyle Busch ties Richard Petty’s all-time record with 200th win
By Asher Fair
Kyle Busch tied Richard Petty’s all-time NASCAR wins record of 200 by winning Sunday’s Cup Series race, the Auto Club 400, at Auto Club Speedway.
Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch entered the weekend set to compete in both the NASCAR Xfinity Series and Cup Series races at Auto Club Speedway, and with 199 career NASCAR victories under his belt, he needed to win just one more race to tie Richard Petty’s all-time NASCAR wins record of 200.
After finishing in second place in the 150-lap Xfinity Series race, the Production Alliance Group 300, at the four-turn, 2.0-mile (3.219-kilometer) Auto Club Speedway oval in Fontana, California, the 33-year-old Las Vegas, Nevada native won the 200-lap Cup Series race, the Auto Club 400, at the track to earn his 200th career NASCAR victory and tie Petty’s all-time record.
The next closest drivers to Busch and Petty on the all-time NASCAR wins list are David Pearson and Kevin Harvick, who are tied for third place on this list with 106 career victories.

While Petty earned all 200 of his NASCAR victories in the Cup Series, Busch has earned his across NASCAR’s top three seasons. He has earned a total of 53 Cup Series victories, a total that ranks 11th on the all-time Cup Series wins list, as well as an all-time record 94 Xfinity Series victories and an all-time record 53 Truck Series victories.
As a result, this has been a much-debated topic over the last several weeks as Busch’s career NASCAR win total has crept closer to 200, and now that it is at 200, the debates surrounding this topic will likely only continue to heat up.
Busch entered the 2019 season having earned 194 career NASCAR victories, including 51 Cup Series victories, 92 Xfinity Series victories and 52 Truck Series victories. He has earned two Cup Series victories in five starts so far this season, but he had been undefeated in his Xfinity Series and Truck Series starts prior to Saturday’s Production Alliance Group 300, winning two races in two starts in each series. As a result, he has earned six victories in just 10 NASCAR starts in 2019.
How many more NASCAR victories will Kyle Busch earn before he retires? How many more victories will he earn in each of the sport’s top three series? Will he break Richard Petty’s all-time NASCAR wins record and earn his 201st career victory? If so, when?
Next weekend, Busch is set to compete in both the Truck Series and Cup Series races, the Martinsville 250 and the STP 500, respectively, at Martinsville Speedway in Ridgeway, Virginia. These races are scheduled to be broadcast live on Fox at 2:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 23 and on Fox Sports 1 at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, respectively, so be sure to tune in to both of them.
