IndyCar: Will Power tops second 2019 Circuit of the Americas practice session

Will Power topped the speed chart in the second practice session for the second race of the 2019 IndyCar season, the IndyCar Classic, at Circuit of the Americas.

Team Penske’s Will Power topped the speed chart in the second practice session for the second race of the 17-race 2019 IndyCar season, the IndyCar Classic, at Circuit of the Americas after finishing in eighth place in the first.

Power topped the speed chart in this practice session by recording a top lap time of 107.4401 seconds (114.259 miles per hour) around the 20-turn, 3.41-mile (5.488-kilometer) Circuit of the Americas road course in Austin, Texas in his #12 Chevrolet.

Honda drivers swept the next three positions on the speed chart in this practice session. Chip Ganassi Racing rookie Felix Rosenqvist finished in second place in his #10 Honda while Andretti Autosport teammates Alexander Rossi and Ryan Hunter-Reay finished in third and fourth in their #27 Honda and #28 Honda, respectively.

Ed Carpenter Racing’s Ed Jones was the highest finishing non-Team Penske Chevrolet driver of the practice session. He finished in fifth place in his #20 Chevrolet.

Andretti Autosport’s Zach Veach, Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Takuma Sato, Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden and Dale Coyne Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais rounded out the top 10 on the speed chart in this practice session by finishing in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place, in their #26 Honda, #22 Chevrolet, #30 Honda, #2 Chevrolet and #18 Honda, respectively.

Of the 24 drivers who are set to compete in the race, one did not complete a lap in this practice session. The driver who failed to do so was Harding Steinbrenner Racing rookie Colton Herta.

The third and final practice session for the race is scheduled to take place tomorrow from 11:00 a.m. ET through 11:45 a.m. ET, and it is set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Gold.

The qualifying session for the race is scheduled to take place tomorrow from 3:00 p.m ET through 4:15 p.m. ET, and it is set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network. The race itself is set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 24, and the race is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. ET.
