Six different drivers representing six different teams have been victorious through the first six races of the 2018-2019 Formula E season.

Six of the 13 races on the 2018-2019 Formula E schedule are in the books, and at this point, if you Googled the word “parity”, finding an ABB Formula E logo as the top result would make complete sense.

In a series that features 11 teams with two drivers competing for each team in each race, six different drivers representing six different teams have been victorious through the season’s first six races, something that had never previously happened in the sport’s history.

In the 2014-2015 season, which was the inaugural Formula E season, six different drivers each won one of the first six races, but these six different drivers represented five different teams.

BMW i Andretti Motorsport’s Antonio Felix da Costa won the Ad Diriyah ePrix, the season opener, before Mahindra Racing’s Jerome d’Ambrosio became the second different driver representing a second different team to win a race in the 2018-2019 season by winning the Marrakesh ePrix, the season’s second race.

Envision Virgin Racing’s Sam Bird then became the third different driver representing a third different team to win a race in the 2018-2019 season by winning the Santiago ePrix, the season’s third race, before Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler’s Lucas di Grassi became the fourth different driver representing a fourth different team to win a race in the 2018-2019 season by winning the Mexico City ePrix. the season’s fourth race.

Bird had what would have been his and Envision Virgin Racing’s second victory of the season stripped as a result of a post-race penalty. Instead of him winning the Hong Kong ePrix, the season’s fifth race, Venturi’s Edoardo Mortara was declared the race winner, thus becoming the fifth different driver representing a fifth different team to win a race in the 2018-2019 season.

Finally (or maybe not finally), defending champion Jean-Eric Vergne of DS Techeetah became the sixth different driver representing a sixth different team to win a race in the 2018-2019 season by winning the Sanya ePrix, the season’s sixth race.

With seven races remaining on the 2018-2019 schedule and five teams having not yet won a race, this trend cannot possibly continue throughout the entirety of the remainder of the season.

But don’t expect the level of parity that the series has seen so far this season to decrease in any way throughout the season’s final seven races. In fact, expect to see more different drivers representing more different teams earn victories before the season concludes.
