IndyCar: Alexander Rossi tops third 2019 Circuit of the Americas practice session

Alexander Rossi topped the speed chart in the third and final practice session for the 2019 IndyCar season’s second race, the IndyCar Classic, at Circuit of the Americas.
Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi topped the speed chart in the third and final practice session for the second race of the 17-race 2019 IndyCar season, the IndyCar Classic, at Circuit of the Americas after finishing in third place in both of the first two.
Rossi topped the speed chart in this practice session by recording a top lap time of 106.9148 seconds (114.820 miles per hour) around the 20-turn, 3.41-mile (5.488-kilometer) Circuit of the Americas road course in Austin, Texas in his #27 Honda.
Rossi lead a top four sweep by Honda drivers in this practice session, as Chip Ganassi Racing rookie Felix Rosenqvist, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal and Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay finished in second, third and fourth place in their #10 Honda, #15 Honda and #28 Honda, respectively.

Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden, who topped the speed chart in the first practice session for the race, was the fastest Chevrolet driver in this session. He finished in fifth place in his #2 Chevrolet.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon finished right behind Newgarden in sixth place in his #9 Honda, giving Honda drivers five of the top six positions in the speed chart in this practice session. Team Penske’s Will Power, who topped the speed chart in the second practice session for the race, finished in seventh in his #12 Chevrolet.
Ed Carpenter Racing’s Spencer Pigot was the fastest non-Team Penske Chevrolet driver of this practice session. He finished in eighth place in his #21 Chevrolet. Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud and Dale Coyne Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais rounded out the top 10 by finishing in ninth and 10th in their #22 Chevrolet and #18 Honda, respectively.
The qualifying session for the race is scheduled to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network from 3:00 p.m ET through 4:15 p.m. ET this afternoon while the race itself is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. ET tomorrow. NBC Sports Network is set to broadcast the race live beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET.
