IndyCar: Alexander Rossi tops no-tow speed chart in second 2019 Indy 500 practice

Alexander Rossi topped the no-tow speed chart in the second practice session for the 2019 IndyCar season’s sixth race, the Indianapolis 500.
Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi may have finished in 34th place out of the 36 drivers who participated in the second practice session for the sixth race on the 17-race 2019 IndyCar scheduled, the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but he was the fastest driver without a tow.
Of the 36 drivers who participated in this practice session, only Andretti Herta Autosport’s Marco Andretti did not complete a lap without a tow.
Rossi topped the no-tow speed chart in this practice session by recording a top lap time of 40.0627 seconds (224.648 miles per hour) around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval in Speedway, Indiana.
Chevrolet drivers proceeded to round out the rest of the top five on the speed chart in this practice session. A.J. Foyt Enterprises’ Tony Kanaan, Ed Carpenter Racing Scuderia Corsa’s Ed Jones, who was the fastest driver on the no-tow speed chart in yesterday’s practice session, Carlin’s Charlie Kimball and Juncos Racing’s Kyle Kaiser finished in second, third, fourth and fifth place without a tow in their #14 Chevrolet, #63 Chevrolet, #23 Chevrolet and #32 Chevrolet, respectively.

Honda drivers, meanwhile, rounded out the rest of the top 10. Meyer Shank Racing’s Jack Harvey, Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports rookie Marcus Ericsson, Harding Steinbrenner Racing rookie Colton Herta, Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon and Andretti Autosport’s Conor Daly finished in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place without a tow in their #60 Honda, #7 Honda, #88 Honda, #9 Honda and #25 Honda, respectively.
Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden, who was the fastest overall driver in this practice session, finished in 25th place in his #2 Chevrolet without a tow.

The 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500’s third practice session is scheduled to take place tomorrow. Just like today’s, it is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. ET and end at 6:00 p.m. ET. It is set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Gold from Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and live timing and scoring will also be available on IndyCar RaceControl.
