IndyCar: Alexander Rossi tops second 2019 Belle Isle practice session

Alexander Rossi topped the speed chart in the second and final practice session for the lone doubleheader on the 2019 IndyCar schedule, the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix.
Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi topped the speed chart in the second and final practice session ahead of this weekend’s two races of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix, the lone doubleheader of the 17-race 2019 IndyCar season, at the Raceway on Belle Isle.
Rossi topped the speed chart in this practice session by recording a top lap time of 75.1367 seconds (112.5948 miles per hour) around the 14-turn, 2.35-mile (3.782-kilometer) Raceway on Belle Isle temporary street circuit on the streets of Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan in his #27 Honda.
The highest finishing Chevrolet drivers of this practice session were Team Penske teammates Josef Newgarden and Will Power. They finished in second and fourth place in their #2 Chevrolet and #12 Chevrolet, respectively.

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon, who topped the speed chart in the first practice session this morning, split these two Team Penske teammates by finishing in third place in his #9 Honda.
Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal and Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay finished in fifth and sixth place on the speed chart in this practice session in their #15 Honda and #28 Honda, respectively, giving Honda drivers four of the top six positions. Ed Carpenter Racing’s Spencer Pigot was the highest finishing non-Team Penske Chevrolet driver of this session. He finished in seventh in his #21 Honda.
Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ James Hinchcliffe, Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud and Ed Carpenter Racing Scuderia Corsa’s Ed Jones rounded out the top 10 on the speed chart in this practice session by finishing in eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #5 Honda, #22 Chevrolet and #20 Chevrolet, respectively.
There are no more scheduled practice sessions for either of the two races of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix. Qualifying for the first race is scheduled to begin tomorrow morning at 10:45 a.m. ET, and it is set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Gold. It is also set to be replayed on NBC Sports Network beginning at 12:00 p.m. ET tomorrow afternoon. The race itself is set to be broadcast live on NBC beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET later tomorrow afternoon, and it is scheduled to begin at 3:50 p.m. ET.
Qualifying for the second race is set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network beginning at 10:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, June 2, and it is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. ET. The race itself is set to be broadcast live on NBC beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET later that afternoon, and it is scheduled to begin at 3:50 p.m. ET.
