Ross Chastain earned his second victory of the 2019 NASCAR Truck Series season by dominating the M&M’s 200 at Iowa Speedway.

Niece Motorsports’ Ross Chastain found victory lane for the second time in the 2019 NASCAR Truck Series season and in his Truck Series career by winning the season’s 10th race, the M&M’s 200, at Iowa Speedway.

Chastain, who started this 200-lap race around the four-turn, 0.875-mile (1.408-kilometer) Iowa Speedway oval in Newton, Iowa in 19th place in his #44 Chevrolet, won it by 2.717 seconds over reigning Iowa Speedway race winner Brett Moffitt of GMS Racing in second in his #24 Chevrolet.

While this victory is Chastain’s second victory of the 2019 season, it is his first to count towards his playoff eligibility. He also won the race at Kansas Speedway last month, but he only declared for Truck Series points just over a week and a half ago.

Assuming he finishes the 16-race regular season in the top 20 in the championship standings, his M&M’s 200 victory will secure him his position as one of the eight drivers to advance to the three-round, seven-race playoffs.

ThorSport Racing’s Ben Rhodes was the highest finishing Ford driver of this race and Kyle Busch Motorsports’ Harrison Burton was the highest finishing Toyota driver. They finished in third and fourth place in their #99 Ford and #18 Toyota, respectively. ThorSport Racing’s Grant Enfinger rounded out the top five by finishing in fifth in his #98 Ford.

Halmar Friesen Racing’s Stewart Friesen, GMS Racing’s Sheldon Creed, ThorSport Racing’s Matt Crafton, Kyle Busch Motorsports’ Chandler Smith, who started the race from the pole position, and DGR-Crosley’s Raphael Lessard rounded out the top 10 by finishing in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #52 Chevrolet, #2 Chevrolet, #88 Ford, #51 Toyota and #17 Toyota, respectively.

This race featured only three lead changes among four drivers. Chastain led more laps than anybody else in the field with 141 laps led. Smith led 55 laps, Crafton led three and ThorSport Racing’s Johnny Sauter led one before he was parked by NASCAR for retaliating against Hattori Racing Enterprises’ Austin Hill for an earlier incident that sent Sauter into the wall. Chastain won both stage one and stage two.

The race also featured a total of four caution flag periods, of which two took place as a result of on-track incidents and two took place as a result of the usual endings of stages one and two. Of the 32 drivers who started the race, 27 finished it, and of these 27 drivers, 13 finished on the lead lap.
