NASCAR Xfinity Series: Christopher Bell dominates 2019 CircuitCity.com 250

Christopher Bell dominated the CircuitCity.com 250 at Iowa Speedway to earn his series-high fourth victory of the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell broke the four-way tie that included three full-time NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers, also known as the “Big Three”, atop the wins list so far this season by earning his fourth victory of 2019. He pulled this off by dominating the season’s 14th race, the CircuitCity.com 250, at Iowa Speedway.

Bell, who started this 250-lap race around the four-turn, 0.875-mile (1.408-kilometer) Iowa Speedway oval in Newton, Iowa in second place in his #20 Toyota, won it by 1.746 seconds over race polesitter Cole Custer of Stewart-Haas Racing in second in his #00 Ford.

JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier was the highest finishing Chevrolet driver of the race. He finished in third place in his #7 Chevrolet. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Harrison Burton and JR Motorsports’ Zane Smith rounded out the top five by finishing in fourth and fifth in their #18 Toyota and #8 Chevrolet.

Noah Gragson finished in sixth place in his #9 Chevrolet to give JR Motorsports three of the top six positions. Stewart-Haas Racing’s Chase Briscoe and GMS Racing’s John Hunter Nemechek rounded out the top eight by finishing in seventh and eighth in their #98 Ford and #23 Chevrolet, respectively.

Michael Annett finished in ninth place in his #1 Chevrolet to give JR Motorsports four of the top nine positions. Team Penske’s Austin Cindric rounded out the top 10 by finishing in 10th in his #22 Ford.

This race featured a total of only five lead changes among three drivers. Aside of Bell, who led more laps than anybody else in the field with 186 laps led, only two drivers led the race. Custer led 59 laps while Kaulig Racing’s Justin Haley led the other five en route to a 13th place finish in his #11 Chevrolet. Bell won both stage one and stage two.

Aside of the two caution flag periods that took place as a result of the usual endings of stages one and two, the race featured five caution flag periods. Of the 38 drivers who started the race, 24 finished it, and of the 24 drivers who finished the race, 14 finished on the lead lap.

The next race on the NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule is scheduled to take place at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois on Saturday, June 29. This race, the Camping World 300, is set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET.
