NASCAR Xfinity Series: Cole Custer dominates 2019 Camping World 300

Cole Custer dominated the Camping World 300 at Chicagoland Speedway en route to earning his series-high fourth victory of the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Cole Custer tied Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell atop the NASCAR Xfinity Series wins list through the 33-race 2019 season’s first 15 races, as he dominated the season’s 15th race, the Camping World 300, at Chicagoland Speedway en route to winning it. This victory is his fourth victory of the season.

Custer started this 200-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Chicagoland Speedway oval in Joliet, Illinois in second place in his #00 Ford, and he won it by 2.917 seconds over race polesitter Joey Logano of Team Penske in second.

Bell was the highest finishing Toyota driver of the race. He finished in third place in his #20 Toyota. JR Motorsports’ Michael Annett was the highest Chevrolet driver of the race. He finished in fourth in his #1 Chevrolet. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Brandon Jones rounded out the top five by finishing in fifth in his #19 Toyota.

Team Penske’s Austin Cindric, JR Motorsports’ Noah Gragson, Kaulig Racing teammates Justin Haley and Ross Chastain and Richard Childress Racing’s Tyler Reddick rounded out the top 10 by finishing in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #22 Ford, #9 Chevrolet, #11 Chevrolet, #10 Chevrolet and #2 Chevrolet, respectively.

This race featured a total of 10 lead changes among five drivers. Aside of Custer, who led more laps than anybody else in the field with 151, four drivers led at least one lap of the race. These four drivers were Logano, Annett, XCI Racing’s Jeffrey Earnhardt and JR Motorsports’ Zane Smith. Custer won stage one while Logano won stage two.

This race featured a total of four incident-related caution flag periods and the usual two caution flag periods for the endings of stages one and two. Of the 38 drivers who started the race, 32 finished it, and of these 32 drivers, 15 finished on the lead lap.
