Ross Chastain led a top three Kaulig Racing sweep to earn the second victory of his NASCAR Xfinity Series career and the team’s first ever Xfinity Series victory at Daytona International Speedway.

Kaulig Racing entered the Circle K Firecracker 250, the 16th race on the 33-race NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule, having never recorded higher than a fourth place finish in a Xfinity Series race. Austin Dillon recorded this fourth place finish in the March race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway earlier this year.

That changed in the Circle K Firecracker 250 — three times within a matter of 0.206 seconds.

Ross Chastain collected the second victory of his Xfinity Series career in his #16 Chevrolet, 0.109 seconds ahead of teammate Justin Haley, the team’s lone full-time driver, in second place in his #11 Chevrolet. Haley finished 0.097 seconds ahead of teammate A.J. Allmendinger in third in his #10 Chevrolet.

More from Xfinity Series

Chastain started this 100-lap race, which was delayed by more than two hours due to inclement weather, around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) high-banked Daytona International Speedway oval in Daytona Beach, Florida in fourth place and led 49 laps en route to securing this victory.

Chastain was previously eligible to earn Xfinity Series points and thus eligible for the Xfinity Series playoffs, but he declared for Truck Series points in early June and is instead eligible for the Truck Series playoffs.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell was the highest finishing Toyota driver of this race. He finished in fourth place in his #20 Toyota. Team Penske’s Austin Cindric was the highest finishing Ford driver of the race. He finished in fifth in his #22 Ford.

JD Motorsports’ Stephen Leicht, Brandonbilt Motorsports’ Brandon Brown, RSS Racing’s Jeff Green, SS-Green Light Racing’s Gray Gaulding and Jeremy Clements Racing’s Jeremy Clements rounded out the top 10 by finishing in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #01 Chevrolet, #86 Chevrolet, #38 Chevrolet, #08 Chevrolet and #51 Chevrolet, respectively.

This race featured a total of 18 lead changes among seven drivers. Aside of Chastain, six other drivers led at least one lap of the race. These drivers were Haley, Allmendinger, JR Motorsports teammates Noah Gragson, Justin Allgaier and Michael Annett and Richard Childress Racing’s Tyler Reddick, who started the race from the pole position. Chastain won stage one while Allmendinger won stage two.

This race featured several heavy crashes that resulted in five caution flag periods in addition to the two usual caution flag periods that took place as a result of the regularly scheduled endings of stages one and two. Of the 38 drivers who competed in this race, only 22 finished it, and of the 22 drivers who finished this race, 15 finished on the lead lap.
