Seven of the eight drivers who are still eligible to win the 2018-2019 Formula E driver championship are set to face potential elimination in the first race of the New York City ePrix.

With two races remaining on the 13-race 2018-2019 Formula E schedule, a total of eight drivers are still mathematically eligible to win this season’s driver championship.

But of these eight drivers, a total of seven are set to face potential elimination in the first race of the New York City ePrix, which is the penultimate race of the season, at Brooklyn Street Circuit.

Each driver who competes in this 45-minute race around the 13-turn, 1.21-mile (1.947-kilometer) Brooklyn Street Circuit temporary street circuit in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York will have the opportunity to score a maximum of 29 points, just like they do in any other race.

The race winner is awarded 25 points while the race polesitter is awarded an additional three points. Also, the driver who records the fastest lap time during the race is awarded one point.

This means that once this race is over, every driver who is not within 29 points of the lead of the driver standings will be mathematically eliminated from championship contention. Following this race, the only race that will remain on this season’s schedule is the second race of the New York City ePrix.

As a result, all drivers other than the driver who is currently leading the driver standings, DS Techeetah’s Jean-Eric Vergne, and other than the drivers who have already been mathematically eliminated from championship contention are set to face potential mathematical elimination from championship contention in the first race of the New York City ePrix. Vergne currently leads the standings with 130 points.

Here is a list of the seven drivers who are set to face potential elimination from championship contention in the first race of the 2019 New York City ePrix at Brooklyn Street Circuit.
