IndyCar: Simon Pagenaud tops second 2019 Toronto practice session

Simon Pagenaud topped the speed chart in the second practice session for the 2019 IndyCar season’s 11th race, the Honda Indy Toronto, at Exhibition Place.

Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud topped the speed chart in the second of three practice sessions for the 17-race 2019 IndyCar season’s 11th race, the Honda Indy Toronto, at Exhibition Place.

Pagenaud topped the speed chart in this practice session by recording a top lap time of 59.8708 seconds (107.3912 miles per hour) around the 11-turn, 1.786-mile (2.874-kilometer) temporary street circuit on the streets of Exhibition Place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in his #22 Chevrolet.

Chip Ganassi Racing rookie Felix Rosenqvist finished in second place in this practice session as the session’s highest finishing Honda driver in his #10 Honda. His best lap time was 59.9311 seconds (107.2832 miles hour), which was just 0.0603 seconds (0.1080 miles per hour) slower than that of Pagenaud.

Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser-Sullivan’s Sebastien Bourdais finished in third place in his #18 Honda, giving Honda drivers two of the top three positions. Ed Carpenter Racing’s Spencer Pigot and Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon, who topped the speed chart in the opening practice session for this race, finished in fourth and fifth in their #21 Chevrolet and #9 Honda, respectively.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal, Andretti Herta Autosport’s Marco Andretti, Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden, Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay and Team Penske’s Will Power finished in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #15 Honda, #98 Honda, #2 Chevrolet, #28 Honda and #12 Chevrolet, respectively.

The third and final practice session for the Honda Indy Toronto, the 11th race on the 2019 IndyCar schedule, is scheduled to take place tomorrow morning beginning at 10:20 a.m. ET. NBC Sports Gold is set to broadcast it live beginning at 10:15 a.m. ET.

The qualifying session for this race is set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network tomorrow afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET.
