A.J. Allmendinger is set to drive for Kaulig Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen International in early August.

Regularly a member of the NASCAR America team, A.J. Allmendinger will be back behind the wheel of an Xfinity Series car for the second time this year at Watkins Glen International in the Zippo 200 at the Glen on Saturday, August 3.

Allmendinger made this announcement earlier this weekend in a video that Kaulig Racing posted on Twitter.

Here is this announcement.

This race will be Allmendinger’s second race of the season driving for Kaulig Racing. He also drove for the team earlier this month at Daytona International Speedway. He finished in third place behind Kaulig Racing teammates Ross Chastain and Justin Haley, but he was disqualified after his car failed post-race inspection.

Allmendinger is already slated to drive for Kaulig Racing in three other road course races before the end of the season. He is slated to compete at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Saturday, August 10, at Road America on Saturday, August 24, and at the Charlotte Motor Speedway roval on Saturday, September 28.

More from Xfinity Series

He is a very experienced road course racer with experience competing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the NTT IndyCar Series along with many years of competing full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Allmendinger’s lone Cup Series victory came at Watkins Glen International in 2014. He has made 10 Cup Series starts at the track, and has recorded three top five finishes, six top 10 finishes, and one pole position in these 10 starts.

Allmendinger has only made one start at the track in the Xfinity Series. He drove for GMS Racing in last year’s race there, finishing in second place after starting in fourth, so look for him to be up front there in a few weeks.
