We have updated the format for the power rankings articles and the standings pages here on Beyond the Flag to make their presentation less confusing.

We have once again slightly altered the format for our race-by-race Formula 1, NASCAR Cup Series, IndyCar and Formula E power rankings articles, and in doing so, we have also made some sizable changes to our standings pages for each of these four series.

From now on, only the formulated driver power rankings will appear in the power rankings articles. We have found that this is the primary reason why our viewers visit these rankings, so we will no longer include other rankings in these articles.

The non-formulated driver power rankings and both the formulated and the non-formulated team power rankings that were previously included in these articles have been added as two separate sheets to the standings pages. This change was made because these rankings are presented much like standings, in regular list form.

More from Formula E

The rankings articles themselves will be presented in a similar manner, although likely with easier navigation to certain slides since the analysis will be written before the rankings are laid out.

Also, the formula variables may be removed from the articles themselves. This has not yet been determined.

As for the standings pages, they, too, will include easier navigation. These pages are among the most consistently popular landing spots on Beyond the Flag, but few people realize that they include more than standings. All of the pages include win droughts, and the Cup Series page also includes stage points, playoff points and the playoff picture while the IndyCar page also includes road and street course standings and oval standings.

And, of course, now they each include three sets of rankings on two additional pages.

Should we make more changes in the future, they will not be documented in separate articles like this one. This situation was particularly notable because it also impacted our standings (now standings/rankings) pages.

The exception to this would be a change to the formulas used to calculated the formulated rankings. We do have one planned change to the base formula for after the 2019 seasons conclude and we are in the process of exploring the possibility of more for the Formula 1 power rankings.

On a side note, we may remove Formula E power rankings from our coverage ahead of the 2019-2020 season, but that has not yet been determined.
