Austin Hill closed out the round of 8 of the 2019 NASCAR Truck Series playoffs by winning the World of Westgate 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Hattori Racing Enterprises’ Austin Hill ended the four-race NASCAR Truck Series playoff winning streak of GMS Racing’s Brett Moffitt, whose first two victories of this streak came last season en route to his championship for Hattori Racing Enterprises.

Hill ended this streak by securing his third victory of the season and the third victory of his career in the 23-race season’s 19th race, the World of Westgate 200, at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This race was the third of three races in the round of 8 of the playoffs and the final race until mid-October when the round of 6 is scheduled to get underway.

Hill started this 134-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Las Vegas Motor Speedway oval in Las Vegas, Nevada in seventh place in his #16 Toyota, and he won it by 2.116 seconds over Niece Motorsports’ Ross Chastain in second place in his #45 Chevrolet after Chastain led a field-high 88 laps. Hill led 29 laps.

Kyle Busch Motorsports’ Christian Eckes, who started the race from the pole position but only led four laps, still managed to finish in a career-high third place in his #51 Toyota.

Rounding out the top five were GMS Racing’s Sheldon Creed and Kyle Busch Motorsports’ Todd Gilliland, who finished in fourth and fifth place in their #2 Chevrolet and #4 Toyota, respectively.

On Point Motorsports’ Brennan Poole finished in sixth place in his #30 Toyota ahead of Moffitt in seventh in his #24 Chevrolet. The race’s highest finishing Ford driver was ThorSport Racing’s Ben Rhodes, who finished in eighth in his #99 Ford. All three of his teammates were knocked out of contention with engine issues.

Kyle Busch Motorsports’ Harrison Burton and DGR-Crosley’s Dylan Lupton rounded out the top 10 by finishing in ninth and 10th place in their #18 Toyota and #5 Toyota, respectively.

This race featured a total of 21 lead changes among five leaders. Aside of Hill, Chastain and Eckes, only Moffitt and Young’s Motorsports’ Spencer Boyd led the race. Chastain won both stages one and two. Of the 32 drivers who started the race, which featured six caution flag periods, 24 finished and 14 finished on the lead lap.
