NASCAR Cup Series: Tyler Reddick to drive for Richard Childress Racing in 2020
By Asher Fair
Tyler Reddick has been confirmed by Richard Childress Racing as the replacement for Daniel Hemric in the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season.
After Richard Childress Racing announced last month that rookie Daniel Hemric would not be back with the team for a second year in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2020, Tyler Reddick, who currently drives for the team in the Xfinity Series, was tipped to replace Hemric behind the wheel of the #8 Chevrolet.
Now it is official; Reddick is set to be promoted from Richard Childress Racing’s Xfinity Series team to their Cup Series team next year.
Here is what Reddick had to say about this opportunity, according to NASCAR.
"“It means a lot to me that Richard, his team, and Caterpillar believe in my ability to represent them both on and off the racetrack. My goal was always to get to race on Sundays, and I’m so excited to achieve that next year with RCR, ECR and Caterpillar. I’m excited to take this next step in my career with their support, but also realize I’ve still got a lot of work to do this year with my No. 2 team to bring home the Xfinity Series Championship. I can’t think of a better way to end RCR’s 50th celebration and kick off next year than by capturing that trophy.”"
Reddick has made two Cup Series starts, both driving for Richard Childress Racing and both this season. He was involved in a wreck that prevented him from finishing the season-opening Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway, but he finished in an impressive ninth place in the May race at Kansas Speedway.

Combined, Hemric and teammate Austin Dillon have only recorded three top nine finishes through the first 29 races of the 36-race 2019 season.
Reddick is in his first season driving for Richard Childress Racing in the Xfinity Series season after winning the championship as a rookie driving for JR Motorsports last year.
He won last year’s championship with just two victories. This season, he won the regular season championship with five victories and is well-positioned to make another title run with five races remaining on the 33-race schedule.
The 23-year-old Corning, California native is set to be the teammate to Dillon, who has been within the Richard Childress Racing organization since the 2008 season and has driven the #3 Chevrolet for the team in the Cup Series since the 2014 season.
With Richard Childress Racing’s driver lineup having been confirmed for the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season, which domino will be the next to fall? Much of next year’s driver lineup has been confirmed, but there are still a lot of variables that exist.
