Cole Custer closed out the round of 12 of the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series playoffs by winning the Use Your Melon Drive Sober 200 at Dover International Speedway.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Cole Custer closed out the round of 12 of the three-round, seven-race 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series playoffs by winning the Use Your Melon Drive Sober 200 at Dover International Speedway.

Custer started this 200-lap race around the four-turn, 1.0-mile (1.609-kilometer) high-banked Monster Mile oval in Dover, Delaware in third place in his #00 Ford, and he won it by one second over JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier in second in his #7 Chevrolet.

Allgaier finished in second place after winning the race’s first two stages, marking a disappointing result for the driver who won five races in last year’s regular season but hasn’t won since.

Team Penske’s Austin Cindric, Kaulig Racing’s Justin Haley and Stewart-Haas Racing’s Chase Briscoe rounded out the top five by finishing in third, fourth and fifth place in their #22 Ford, #11 Chevrolet and #98 Ford, respectively. Briscoe started the race from the pole position.

JR Motorsports teammates Michael Annett, Noah Gragson and Zane Smith finished in sixth, seventh and ninth place in their #1 Chevrolet, #9 Chevrolet and #8 Chevrolet, respectively. GMS Racing’s John Hunter Nemechek finished in eighth in his #23 Chevrolet, and RSS Racing’s Ryan Sieg rounded out the top 10 by finishing in 10th in his #39 Chevrolet.

B.J. McLeod Motorsports’ Stefan Parsons was the highest finishing Toyota driver of the race. He finished in 19th place in his #99 Toyota, four laps off the lead lap, as the usual Toyota contenders, the three Joe Gibbs Racing cars, all experienced issues.

Christopher Bell finished in 25th place after his #20 Toyota experienced a fuel pressure issue. Brandon Jones and Harrison Burton were involved in a first-lap crash and officially scored in 37th and 38th in their #19 Toyota and #18 Toyota, respectively.

This race featured eight lead changes among six leaders. Aside of Custer, who led 31 laps, five drivers led at least one lap of the race. These drivers were Allgaier, Cindric, Briscoe, Annett and Mike Harmon Racing’s Joe Nemechek. Briscoe led more laps than anybody else in the field with 71 laps led.

This race also featured six caution flag periods, and only 22 of the 38 drivers who started it finished it. Of these 22 drivers, only seven finished on the lead lap.
