NASCAR: Corey LaJoie to return to Go Fas Racing in 2020
By Asher Fair
Confirming previous speculation, Go Fas Racing have announced that Corey LaJoie is set to return to the team in the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season.
After driving part-time for BK Racing in the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series season and part-time for TriStar Motorsports in the 2018 season, Corey LaJoie landed a full-time ride for the first time in his career in 2019.
LaJoie replaced Matt DiBenedetto behind the wheel of the #32 Ford at Go Fas Racing. Now, after he had previously stated that he was working on a deal to return to the team for a second season in 2020, Go Fas Racing have confirmed that he will be back with the team next year.
Here is what LaJoie had to say about this opportunity, according to NASCAR.
"“I’m really happy that we were able to work it out so I’m able to drive the No. 32 Mustang in 2020. This group is a lot of fun to go racing with, and I look forward to utilizing these SHR cars and putting together some solid runs. We had some really good finishes in 2019, and I’m excited because with the potential we have going forward, we can make 2020 an even better year.”"
Here is what Go Fas Racing team owner Archie St. Hilaire had to add.
"“Mason (St. Hilaire) and I are excited to bring Corey back and continue Go Fas Racing’s growth with 2019 being our best year ever. The Stewart-Haas Racing alliance should allow us to continue that progress throughout the 2020 season with all the great employees and marketing partners this team has. We couldn’t be more excited for the 2020 season to begin.”"
LaJoie finished in 29th place in the championship standings this past season with an average starting position of 29.7 and an average finishing position of 25.9, and he had some impressive results along the way in what was definitely Go Fas Racing’s most successful season.

He recorded seven top 20 finishes, including four in the four superspeedway races, and two top 10 finishes, the first two top 10 finishes of his career, after entering the season with just two top 20 finishes in 57 career starts.
He finished in a career-high and an all-time Go Fas Racing-high sixth place in the rain-shortened race at Daytona International Speedway in July before going on to finish in seventh in the race at Talladega Superspeedway in October. His average finish of 10.50 in the four superspeedway races this year was the third best among all drivers, trailing only the marks of Roush Fenway Racing’s Ryan Newman (7.00) and Germain Racing’s Ty Dillon (9.25).
As Archie St. Hilaire mentioned, Go Fas Racing formed a technical alliance with Stewart-Haas Racing for the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season, which should allow the team to continue to make good progress and be even more competitive down the road.
