Which five NASCAR drivers should join Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. by competing in IndyCar iRacing Challenge events?

The unexpected stoppage of the 2020 NASCAR season and the unexpected indefinite suspension of the 2020 IndyCar season led both series to create virtual racing series on iRacing to pass the time during the coronavirus pandemic.

NASCAR and iRacing introduced the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series while IndyCar and iRacing introduced the IndyCar iRacing Challenge.

As a result, the sport’s drivers can still compete against one another at real-life venues on weekends as they usually would, albeit in a virtual world. This has also created a unique opportunity for drivers of one league to compete in another.

For example, seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson competed in the first two IndyCar iRacing Challenge events, and 15-time NASCAR Cup Series Most Popular Driver Award winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. is set to make his IndyCar iRacing Challenge debut in the third at virtual Michigan International Speedway later this afternoon.

A number of other drivers who otherwise wouldn’t have had the opportunity to compete in real-life NASCAR and IndyCar have had the opportunity to do so thanks to the introduction of these two series. But with at least several of these virtual races remaining before live action returns, could we see more of these drivers?

Here are five more NASCAR drivers who should compete in virtual IndyCar events.
