NASCAR: 5 drivers who should attempt IndyCar races
By Asher Fair
Kyle Larson
Kyle Larson, for about as long as he has been competing in the NASCAR Cup Series, has been known for being the driver who can get behind the wheel of anything and compete at a high level, and his career illustrates that to a T.
But despite having confirmed interest in a Memorial Day Double attempt on multiple occasions over the years, the six-time Cup Series race winner is still without a single IndyCar start to his name.
What is even more surprising is the fact that this is still the case even though he already is in his seventh season driving full-time for Chip Ganassi Racing. Chip Ganassi is one of the two Cup Series team owners, the other being IndyCar and Indianapolis Motor Speedway owner Roger Penske, who also fields an IndyCar team.
We have seen Larson compete in iRacing series other than the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series during this indefinite suspension of the Cup Series season, so would it really surprise anybody to see him attempt one of the IndyCar iRacing Challenge events?
It wouldn’t be the same as getting to drive an actual open-wheel car for the first time, but it would be the best he can get right now, and in an environment with far less pressure.
