NASCAR: 5 non-NASCAR tracks where eNASCAR iRacing should race
2. Circuit de la Sarthe
Again, one of the best parts of virtual racing is that it presents the opportunity to hold races that would never happen in real life. A NASCAR race at Circuit de la Sarthe is clearly one of those cases.
This 38-turn, 8.467-mile (13.626-kilometer) road course in Le Mans, Pays de la Loire, France, is known around the world for hosting the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a World Endurance Championship. The World Endurance Championship is almost as far away from NASCAR as you can possibly get.
Seeing one stock car go around Le Mans on its own would be fun enough. But seeing an entire field of stock cars race at Le Mans has the potential to be extremely entertaining.
The Mulsanne Straight alone would be enough to provide us with an entertaining race, especially with the two chicanes and the Mulsanne Hairpin at the end of the straight. Plus, this would be a race on a true road course, as the Le Mans circuit is made up of some public roads.
There are so many different elements to the Le Mans circuit between the long straightaways to the slow hairpin corners and chicanes. Having a race there would really test drivers’ abilities to work their cars at full speed in the draft and at slower speeds through corners. Extra time practicing on the sim rig would be a must for the participants if there were ever a race there.
