1. Giancarlo Fisichella vs. Ralf Schumacher – Argentina 1997

Both Giancarlo Fisichella and Ralf Schumacher were two relatively new boys in Formula 1 at this point, and they both found themselves fighting to impress their new boss, Eddie Jordan. Unfortunately for them, the race at Buenos Aires in 1997 did not help their cause, despite the fact that it resulted in a successful finish for one of the two.

By lap 24, the pit stop race was well underway, and the Jordan team found themselves in second and third place. Schumacher, feeling that he had more momentum, found himself in his teammate’s slipstream while heading towards a right-hand turn.

Bear in mind that this right-hand turn in question is not a great overtaking place. But Schumacher placed his car on the inside anyway, causing the collision.

Sadly, due to the typical shoddy camera work by Formula 1 directors, the live feed missed the initial contact and only panned to spot Fisichella on his way around, with the sad sight of Schumacher going past.

Fisichella was knocked out and Jordan’s mood did not improve, despite Schumacher actually going on to score his first career podium in Formula 1 that day. It easily could have been a double Jordan podium that day.
