JR Motorsports NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Justin Allgaier was transported to a local hospital after crashing on the final lap of Thursday night’s race.

As a result of a last-lap crash involving the #7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet of Justin Allgaier, the #61 MBM Motorsports Toyota of Timmy Hill and the #90 DGM Motorsports Chevrolet of Ronnie Bassett Jr. in Thursday night’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Kentucky Speedway, Allgaier was transported to a local hospital.

Allgaier’s #7 Chevrolet slid into Bassett’s #90 Chevrolet on the back straightaway of the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) oval in Sparta, Kentucky, which sent the former into the outside wall and the latter spinning into the inside wall before making heavy contact with it and lifting slightly off the ground.

The #61 Toyota then made hard contact with both cars, first the #7 Chevrolet and then the #90 Chevrolet. The contact with the former turned the #7 Chevrolet and sent it nose-first into the turn three wall. Both Hill and Bassett, who were classified in 19th and 21st place, respectively, were checked and released from the infield care center.

Here is a video of the wreck.

Allgaier was classified in 20th place after the wreck. He had restarted in fourth on the outside of the second row alongside teammate Noah Gragson with two laps remaining before the #9 Chevrolet of Gragson got loose and made contact with his #7 Chevrolet and caused him to lose several positions.

Team Penske’s Austin Cindric ended up securing his first victory of the season and the third of his Xfinity Series career in his #22 Ford ahead of Joe Gibbs Racing rookie Riley Herbst, who tied his career-best effort from late February at Auto Club Speedway with a second place finish in his #18 Toyota.

Allgaier has since been treated and released from the hospital.
