NASCAR announced on Tuesday that Truck Series team owner and driver Josh Reaume had been suspended indefinitely. Now we know why.

On Tuesday, NASCAR announced that Reaume Brothers Racing Truck Series team owner and driver Josh Reaume had been suspended indefinitely for a violation of Sections 12.1 and 12.8.1.e of the NASCAR Rule Book in a recent social media post, much like Xfinity Series driver Mike Wallace was earlier this season.

NASCAR did not reveal what exactly got the 30-year-old Redlands, California native suspended, just as they did not do so when they suspended Wallace.

The rulebook states that a violation of section 12.8.1.e. “public statement and/or communication that criticizes, ridicules, or otherwise disparages another person based upon that person’s race, color, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, age, or handicapping condition.”

While it hadn’t been publicly revealed what he had done wrong, Reaume shared this message to Twitter in response to his suspension on Tuesday evening.

But this message still didn’t indicate why, exactly, Reaume had been suspended by NASCAR.

Now we know.

According to Kickin’ The Tires, a source captured an “insensitive, anti-Semitic” photo that Reaume posted on social media which featured a swastika. That source then reported the photo to NASCAR, which notified him of the situation during this past race weekend at Phoenix Raceway prior to handing down the suspension.

While a fake photo has been circulating in response to this developing situation, the photo itself which Reaume posted still has not been publicized following his suspension.

However, his statement about his food being taken out of context and not meaning to offend anybody does check out with the rulebook violation that led to his suspension as well as the Kickin’ The Tires report.

Reaume competed in 12 of the 23 races on this year’s Truck Series schedule and finished in a season-high 17th at Michigan International Speedway. A total of 14 other drivers competed for his team at some point throughout the season, with Jason White securing their best finish of 10th in the season opener at Daytona International Speedway.

Reaume also competed in two of the 33 races on the Xfinity Series schedule after having not competed in the series since 2018. He drove for Mike Harmon Racing at Kansas Speedway and RSS Racing at Martinsville Speedway.

Reaume will likely have to complete sensitivity training before applying to be reinstated by NASCAR. Fortunately for him, the 2020 season is in the books and the 2021 season opener at Daytona International Speedway is still more than three months away on Friday, February 12.
