The team’s four-car IndyCar lineup has already been solidified with five drivers. Marcus Ericsson is set to compete full-time behind the wheel of the #8 Honda while Scott Dixon is set to compete full-time behind the wheel of the #9 Honda and Alex Palou is set to compete full-time behind the wheel of the #10 Honda.
Tony Kanaan is set to drive the #48 Honda in the four oval races while Jimmie Johnson is set to drive it in the 13 road and street course races.
The team’s two-car Cup Series lineup has been solidified as well. Kurt Busch is set to compete full-time behind the wheel of the #1 Chevrolet while Ross Chastain is set to compete full-time behind the wheel of the #42 Chevrolet.
With that being said, it’s not out of the question that Johnson could return to the Cup Series.
He has not ruled out returning for select races, despite retiring from full-time competition, and with his Chip Ganassi Racing IndyCar deal, he could very well drive a third stock car for the team from time to time.
The team have also confirmed Kevin Magnussen and Renger van der Zande as full-time drivers for their IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Cadillac DPi program.
Finally, the team have also solidified their Extreme E lineup for the series’ maiden season with both Sara Price and Kyle LeDuc behind the wheel.
What will Chip Ganassi Racing’s announcement be? Be sure to check their Twitter account at around 9:00 a.m. ET this morning.
