NASCAR Cup Series buy: Chase Briscoe

Chase Briscoe could have been your 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion, but thanks in part to the playoff format, that dream was dashed late in the season.

He finished the 33-race season with a series-high nine wins, 16 top five finishes, 22 top 10 finishes and a series-high 1,032 laps led — just an outstanding season from the native Hoosier.

Briscoe is set to drive his childhood hero Tony Stewart’s old car, the #14 Ford, replacing the retired and Fox Sports booth-bound Clint Bowyer at Stewart-Haas Racing as a Cup Series rookie in 2021.

Being a Stewart fan myself, I may be a bit biased towards Briscoe. But I’m buying the hype surrounding him and I expect him to have a breakout season in his rookie year.

Championship favorite? Don’t be ridiculous. But consistency and a comfortable playoff berth, at the very least, is what should be in store for Briscoe in the upcoming season.

You know the old investment saying, “Buy low, sell high”? Briscoe’s stock is low as a rookie. So now is the time to invest, and if I can paraphrase from The Wolf of Wall Street, “Because by the time you read about it on FoxSports.com, it’s already too late.”
