Not all of the NASCAR Cup Series silly season discussion for 2022 revolves around the drivers and teams garnering the most hype.

There has been a ton of talk about some of the key free agents still available for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season and some of the seats where they could end up.

Think drivers such as Kurt Busch, Ryan Newman, Aric Almirola and Matt DiBenedetto and teams such as 23XI Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing.

Must Read. Dale Earnhardt Jr. still annoys Martin Truex Jr.. light

But there are other situations throughout the field that could end up being quite interesting as well, even if not to the level of the appeal of the ones listed above, given the fact that they are at less competitive teams.

Here are three other teams with open seats for 2022.

Teams with open seats for 2022: No. 1 – Richard Petty Motorsports

When Erik Jones and Richard Petty Motorsports agreed to terms on a contract for the 2021 season last year, it was said to be a multi-year deal for Jones to pilot the #43 Chevrolet.

But while Jones would like to return to the team for next year, Richard Petty Motorsports hold an option that would allow them to sign somebody else if they feel it is right to do so.

This is a ride to which Ryan Newman has been linked in recent weeks, with Brad Keselowski set to replace him behind the wheel of the #6 Ford at Roush Fenway Racing.

Newman still wants to compete, and while a part-time ride in a third Roush Fenway Racing Ford alongside Keselowski and Chris Buescher has been mentioned, he may want to stick around full-time.
