Possible landing spot No. 2 – Truck Series

Ryan Preece’s short time spent in the NASCAR Truck Series has been interesting, to say the least. He debuted this year with David Gilliland Racing and won in his first start at Nashville Superspeedway, beating out ThorSport Racing’s Grant Enfinger in the closing laps to take the checkered flag.

In doing so, he became the just the fifth driver to win in his Truck Series debut, and he noted how “super proud” he was just to receive the opportunity to compete in the Truck Series and that such opportunities don’t come often.

Preece followed up his win at Nashville Superspeedway with another strong finish at Pocono Raceway, where he finished in ninth place. To date, these are Preece’s only two Truck Series starts, but an average finish of fifth with a win should make strong first impression.

A full-time ride with David Gilliland Racing would make the most sense, as the results speak for themselves. But like there are in the Xfinity Series, there are plenty of pieces still to be moved in the upcoming offseason, so Preece may have to wait a little bit longer in this scenario to see if he has a future in the series.
