IndyCar: 2021 Portland qualifying – Full starting lineup

The starting lineup for the antepenultimate race of the 2021 IndyCar season at Portland International Raceway is set following Saturday’s qualifying session.

Following two consecutive off weekends, the final run to the 2021 IndyCar championship begins this weekend at Portland International Raceway with the Grand Prix of Portland. This race is the first of three in a row to conclude the 16-race season.

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou took the pole position for this 110-lap race around the 12-turn, 1.967-mile (3.166-kilometer)  natural terrain road course in Portland, Oregon.

He took the pole position by recording a top lap time of 58.7701 seconds (120.306 miles per hour) behind the wheel of his #10 Honda in the Firestone Fast Six qualifying session for this race.

He entered the weekend trailing Arrow McLaren SP’s Pato O’Ward by 10 points for the lead of the championship standings. With this pole position, the first of his career, he now trails by nine.

Set to start on the outside of Palou on the front row is Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi in second place behind the wheel of his #27 Honda.

O’Ward just missed out on advancing to the Firestone Fast Six and is set to start in seventh place behind the wheel of the #5 Chevrolet.

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon, who sits in fourth place in the championship standings, is set to start in third behind the wheel of his #9 Honda. Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden, who sits in third, is set to start in 18th behind the wheel of his #2 Chevrolet after a disappointing qualifying session.
