NASCAR driver arrested, suspended indefinitely

Carson Ware was arrested and suspended ahead of what would have been his seventh start of the 2021 NASCAR Xfinity Series season this Saturday.
NASCAR driver Carson Ware was arrested on Wednesday morning and has been suspended indefinitely by NASCAR as a result of his actions.
The 21-year-old Jamestown, North Carolina native was arrested on assault on a female, simple assault and injury to personal property, according to the records of Rowan County, North Carolina. His bond was set at $1,000 and his court date is set for Friday, November 19.

Carson is the brother of NASCAR Cup Series driver Cody Ware and son of team owner Rick Ware, and he was supposed to compete for SS-Green Light Racing in partnership with Rick Ware Racing in Saturday afternoon’s Xfinity Series playoff race at Kansas Speedway. It would have been his seventh start of the season.
In addition to NASCAR, SS-Green Light Racing have suspended him indefinitely for his actions as well.
Ware has competed in six Xfinity Series races in what is his second season in the series, including five for his father’s team and one for Mike Harmon Racing. His best finishes are 28th place efforts as the driver of the #17 Chevrolet for Rick Ware Racing at Pocono Raceway and Michigan International Speedway. His average finish is 31st.

SS-Green Light Racing also responded to the news. They put out the following statement:
"“This morning we became aware of a situation that involved Carson Ware. Upon further information, we have indefinitely suspended Carson Ware as a driver at SS Green Light Racing. We are taking this matter very seriously as the facts come to light. At this time, Garrett Smithley will be the driver for the No. 17 entry at Kansas Speedway.”"

Garrett Smithley, Ware’s replacement for Saturday’s 200-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) oval in Kansas City, Kansas, competes part-time for Rick Ware Racing in the Cup Series and for SS-Green Light Racing in partnership with Rick Ware Racing in the Xfinity Series.
