Where is the Season Finale 500?

The Season Finale 500 is a 312-lap race around the four-turn, 1.022-mile (1.645-kilometer) Phoenix Raceway oval in Avondale, Arizona. This track hosted the Championship 4 event for the first time last year, and Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott won the race and championship.

The track also hosted a race back in mid-March, a race which was won by Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. Both Elliott and Truex are among the Championship 4 drivers this year. This year’s Championship 4 also consists of Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin.

Who is on pole at Phoenix?

For the first time since the inaugural race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course in August, NASCAR actually used a qualifying session to set the starting lineup, and for the first time since the inaugural race at Nashville Superspeedway in June, a single-car qualifying session was used.

It was Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson who took the pole position for Sunday’s race by recording a speed of 137.847 miles per hour (26.116 seconds) behind the wheel of his #5 Chevrolet during the quicker of his two qualifying laps.

Set to start alongside Larson on the front row is teammate Chase Elliott in second place behind the wheel of his #9 Chevrolet. Elliott’s better lap speed was 0.908 miles per hour (0.173 seconds) slower than that of Larson at 136.939 miles per hour (26.289 seconds).
