The Vegas Golden Knights took a playful jab at a handful of Formula 1 drivers during Friday night’s NHL game against the Arizona Coyotes.

The Vegas Golden Knights ended a two-game skid on Friday night at Gila River Arena against the last-place Arizona Coyotes with a 7-1 rout, bringing them to 13-10-0 through their first 23 games in the 2021-2022 NHL season. The Coyotes fell to 5-17-2.

Entering this game, the Golden Knights had averaged 3.23 goals per game. They shattered that mark during the second period, and they didn’t stop there.

Amid a four-goal second period, the team’s Twitter account made reference to the fact that the team had already scored more goals in this game than four Formula 1 drivers have scored points through 20 races in the 22-race 2021 season.

Technically, they scored more than those four drivers in their two-goal first period alone.

A total of 21 drivers have competed in at least one Formula 1 race this year, and four of them have scored either zero or one point.

Of course, one of those drivers, Robert Kubica, competed in only two events as the replacement for Alfa Romeo’s Kimi Raikkonen after Raikkonen tested positive for COVID-19.

The other three, however, are all full-time drivers. Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi has only scored one point this season, and Haas rookie teammates Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin are both scoreless.

By the time the game ended, the Golden Knights had actually matched Williams’ Nicholas Latifi with seven.

This seven-goal performance is tied for their highest scoring performance of the season, as they also put up seven goals in a 7-4 win against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, November 13.

The Golden Knights are scheduled to be back home at T-Mobile Arena tomorrow night for a game against the first-place Calgary Flames (15-4-5).
